Hello All! I Have recently been questioning weather my aquarium light is too bright for my betta she is not very active during the day when the light is on and is active when its off or the Fluval Spec is in night mode. I have white substrate and some good plants in it (Fake BTW) if this is to bright how do i fix this by using the same light so i can see the fish during the day i mean i payed $110 For this 5 Gallon Aquarium i am going to get the most out of it!

Specs:
Lumen=821
Color Temp=7000k
Substrate Color=White

Do you have a PAR value for the light? What 5 gallon do you have (I'm assuming it's a kit)? Based of the lumens, you have medium high lighting, and I bet the light is causing the betta to be inactive while they are on. Without live plants, there really is no need for such a bright light. One suggestion is to get some floating plants, they'll reduce the amount of light entering the tank and some have nice roots like Red Root Floater or Amazon Frogbit. You can buy these off Amazon for pretty cheap provided your local temperatures aren't too extreme right now.
