Will a toadstool mushroom host a clownfish?

Rarely, but it can happen. The toadstool might end up stressed, and there is some evidence to suggest that clowns that host in non-anemones, or don't host at all, are more disease prone than individuals that do host. It is certainly true in my case.

What species of clown do you have?

i have 2 percs. I was the the LFS and there was a clown kinda hosting it it seemd like, always around it but never really in it, so i thought it was kinda weird didn't really know if it was or not. Just thought i would ask

yupp, got it, he looks great, but as soon as i got home, its tents shrunk up .. im pretty sure this is normal cause its a new tank, but just wanna make sure its all good... tehy are starting to come out a little by little

my toadstool was very temperamental when he first went in. it took a few days before his polups were fully extended.

Everyday though he will retract them all for 1/2 hour or so. usually just after the cleaner shrimp has stomped all over him or around the time of lights switching from moon/actinic/halide.

They are very hardy though.

Also don't be surprised if the clowns don't host anything.
