hey guys i was wanting to hear your thoughts on the seio 620 in comparison to the maxijet 900. I know that the seio provides more lph and has a better wattage but i need a powerhead that is VERY VERY quiet due to the fact the tank is in my room and i am sometimes a light sleeper. price doesnt matter because i ca npick up the seio for £3 more than the maxi so im not too fussed about that. All comments welcomed :good:

seio or maxi you decide :D

Seio. Both electric motors are the same design so they're equally quiet :good:

oki dokey also ive read that they ahve a different type of current which is preferd by LPS and softies am i right?

If money is really no object, go for the Tunze which Seio is a cheap copy of ;)

The best Seio (620) gives a little under 80GPH per watt. The Tunze 6025 gives 149 GPH per watt. (All the above are smaller US GPH)

me being a 14 year old im having to run my tank, have a social life and buy things for me on a budget of £5 a week so tunze are out the window

The Tunze 6025 (2,500 LPH) is only about £45 brand new. I paid but £65 for my 6045 (4,500 LPH). So the nanos do not have to break the bank. I doubt the corresponding Seio is going to be that much cheaper than £45.

And of course there is the reliability issue. Seio are made by Rio, who are renowned for making powerheads so bad that if they don't fail and electrocute you, they leak pollutants into the tank and kill your livestock. Tunze, on the other hand, run even longer than Eheim equipment.

Obviously, if you want the really good Tunze stuff, then you are looking at £300 for a wavebox. (But the box will do tanks aup to 300 gallons with ease, and is the best way yet of recreating the surges that occur over reefs. Possibly overkill on a nano though).

/me wanders off pondering the effects of a Stream 6300 (30,000 LPH) in a nano tank...

hhaaaha that would be quite funny to see .... i predict a very wet floor and a lot of splashing. Also with the seio it gives 2400lph and is like £20 so its exactly what i want as my skimmer puts about 1200 lph in the tank and i have the trikel filter giving like 550plph (dont worry has no sponge and is filled with chaeto and activated carbon, hopefully some rowaphos soon too)
