Being new I have to wonder = How valid is my opinion??
I have twenty years of fish keeping experiance. I read a thread about posting to get your "fish" count up, that aint me! I see no need to add so some BS story or half A fact after the correct answer if given. The people on this forum (especially the MODs) give the true new aquarist a level of assistance that saves many fishes lives, trust me I killed enough learning. I also have read a thread talking about the people who do not post as if they had the plague. So I guess my point is if someone post a problem or a question that has not been responded to and I respond is my responce going to be accepted or are they going to see I only have a half dozen posts and call me a...................... I personally would like to hear from some of the more established members on their thoughts.

I'd have to say with my experience all responses are regarded as factual until either someone disproves it with fact or it's blatantly obvious that it's off base.. Meaning some people have heeded bad information and actually did the Wrong thing, or not quite the right thing.. Get my drift? Basically what I'm saying is good info coming from someone with 1 post is held in similar regard to someone with 1,000,000 posts :) Well not quite, but by all means POST! :) Welcome by the way...

post joe,post!!

Experienced hobbyist and those new to the hobby are respected and their info/ advice is always appreciated here  . Everybodies opinion is just as important as everybody elses , a lot of new fish keepers have learned tons of new things by asking questions here and researching books and the web. I don't think anybody looks at the titles anyway, it's what you have to say that counts

I'd love to hear about what kind of fish you keep :D

Hi JoeFish and welcome to TFF.

I can assure your opinion and everyone elses is valuable and needed here. The whole point of a forum, like you already know, is to post, get to know everyone, help out, ask questions and have fun. I'm not sure why all of a sudden the questioning about post counts came up before or even why it matters but I don't see why anyone should care why someone posts, to be honest.

I see no need to add so some BS story or half A fact after the correct answer if given.

I know a lot of people feel the same as you in this instance but I have to say that I disagree a bit. Take for example if someone new posts a question. If one member answers, even if it's correct, does this new person know for sure that this is the correct info based upon one members opinion? Perhaps but maybe not. They might feel a lot better if others replied and agreed and now this new member feels assured that the info given is correct and their thread isn't just being overlooked.

I understand and respect how you feel about it but it would be great if you felt like posting and did so under any circumstances. I'm sure with all of your experience that you have we all could learn from it and I look forward to it.

That is actually a very good point smb. I too, have a habit of not posting in a htread if the correct answer has been given - but that I think, may change if there are only one or two answers.

Glad to here that nobody really pays attention to the numbers. You all will probably see me popping up here and there. Once I get the hang of my camera Ill get some picts up of my tanks.

Yeah i'm probably considered a newbie still(only had fish for a little over 1 year) but I've posted so much info base on MY experience and tell that to ppl too. All i remember is when i started out i loved how i got a quick response back, even if it wasn't as detailed as i wanted. If i see a person with no replies to even a question i dont know, i will often try to research off the net for them to give them atleast something. I know i would like the same treatment. But once in a while you'll get the mod's proving you wrong :p , but it's ok you learn from your mistakes. I'm def not that perfect, lol! hope you enjoy the site!

I wanted to say welcome to the forum, and I too hope to see your posts. I agree with all that was said above, in that is is good to hear other peoples opinions on things. Some posts are from people just wondering if they are doing good enough by their fish, and with your experience, we would love to hear all you have to say. I know I would. This is a great forum, and lots of people around to answer questions, but i am sure that most agree that the more input you get, the better you feel about how you are doing with your fish. We all look forward to hearing from you, and dont forget to stop by the chat room and get to know everyone.
