To clear something up

lol

Marine puffers are also different to freshwater andbrackish puffers, it all varies really! I don't know too much about marine species however, so I can't really back this up!

Sorry Fish00, but you are wrong. South American Puffers WILL attack other fish, even if they are several times larger than the puffers.

You may be able to keep them in community tanks, but it's only a matter of time before it all ends in tears.

Even if the damage is minimal, it's is unfair to keep a fish where it is under constant harrasment and cannot get away.

You say you've done this four times.. what happened to those fish?

hmm, interesting thread- i have been researching a bit on puffers recently and thanks to this thread, if i ever get puffers in the distant future im definatly not going to keep them in community tanks; the original info though in the fish profile i find rather misleading and i think somone should edit the first post/original thread starter a bit.
So basically puffers are like CAE's/chinese alage eaters then? Cute and lovable when an 1inch long but then turn into a ruthless psycho killing machine once they start packing on the inchs, no? Even if they do well themselves and don't attack the other fish, their tanks mates will always be living on a knife edge so to speak.
