Hi all,

I apologise as this is a bit of a nube question (and it's in 2 parts). I recently squired (second hand)an AquaOne 620T which has some fancy top mounted filter. Trouble is, the pump has decided to stop working, which is great. so, here are my questions:

1, The pump is calleda powerhead 300. Has anyone ever managed to take one of these things apart? I want to try to fix it as I cant afford to buy new after spending money on the tank, but I cant seem to get into the thing! :/

2, When the pump is running, the water falls back into the tank, causing bubbles. Do I need bubbles in my water? (sorry, told you it was a nube question). The reason I ask is because I've got a spare filter bit it uses sponges and just sucks the water in and blows it out, no falling water therefore no bubbles.

I should also add, there are no live plants and no fish in there at the moment. If I need the bubbles, I cant use the spare and will have to wait until I can afford a new one.

Thanks in advance.

A power head is a simple pumping unit. If you can get the needed flow from your power head is rated to do, it is doing all that you can expect. T%hat leaves you wondering what else you can do to induce the best possible situation. In your situation, the best possible outcome would be a fishless cycle that leaves you ready to start your own tank safely.
