Tmc Vectron V2 Skimer.

set my new skimmer up yesterday and it was running fine....
then woke up this morning to the sound of running water and the skimmer had half empted the tank.
any one else had this sort of issue with this brand of skimmer?

i have the TMC v2 400 skimmer and it hasnt flooded at all but i have had major problems with micro bubbles and cant get em to bugger off. Mine is a week old tomoro. It has overflowed the cup before but managed to shut of the power before its spewd onto my floor (lucky i was awake till 1 in the morning that day) also try adjusting your water level in your skimmer and attatch the water flow adjuster to the pump so you can adjust that. Pays to have more variables. Have you run it for 24 - 48 hrs with the bubbles in the nek? it says to do so in the guide and could be the reason for overflow.
Also would you have any idea how to stop the microbubbles coz i can fit the bubblestop thing

have you tried putting the outlet above the water?
that might just mean the micro bubbles are knocked out by the surface tension of the water....

i`ve got it running now, will turn it off when we go to bed though

If you got it set, you could try running it just at night instead - help keep the ph of the tank up.

...might end up just keeping everyone in the house up instead tho

I won`t hvae it on at night untill i know i have it set,
can`t risk it emptying when it has corals in

Ian to what i PM'd u about when u run it again watch the bubble line cos even when uve set it later on it can go lower or little higher so its summit to take into account but once its moved it usually stops.

I had a siimilar issue a month or two back. The skimmer ran with no problems for 4 months and then all of a sudden the pot overflowed on a number of occasions. I found that I had to throttle the air flow via fitting a variable restriction to the small air intake or in my case I formed a kink in the small piece of airline that I have fitted with a silencer to keep the noise down.

I never found what caused it !!! No matter how much i adjusted the level dial, it would not reduce the water buble line and the amount of bubbling it created was unbelievable. It would fill the cup in 15 - 20 mins and I done believe it was waste !!!

It did correct itself after about two weeks

i put the tube with the plastic valve on the end that came with the pump onto my inlet - quietens it down.

also, if the outlet is in the bubbletrap, make sure its not too tight causing a restriction.

Mine took approx 2 weeks to settle and find the right bubble line & it works great now.

Sorry to hear about your mishap Ian. Never had a skimmer to that to me but then again I'm rumming a seaclone! if you can call it a skimmer?

it seems to be working fine... came home from work today and the cup had a smattering of yellow water in the bottom of it, so either one of the cats has bright ideas, or it`s working fine
