right so basicly whenever iplug my skimmer in it just spews out micro bubbles and i cannot see any way to stop them :( anyone who has had a TMC skimmer and set up one or also has one on an aqua one aqua style 620/620t or any aqua one tanks for that matter all help greatly appreciated. Hoping to add live rock tomoro as all stats are stable (temp + SG) but it depdns if i can stop the bubblesd

I have a superskimmer and I have the opposite problem....no micro bubbles. :(

hmmm lol skimmers you cant be with em or without :p im sure mine will be good once it gets all worn in and set up but its a fu**** nightmnare ATM its just not working. also the bubbles in the collectioncup are real small aswell :(

So are bubbles spewing from the outlet? I tried to google your skimmer but I didn't get any good results. Could you post a link to one or a pic of yours so I can see it?

For the time being as I don't really know your skimmer, its normal for them to go bubble crazy for the first week of running them. They have some kind of factory coating on them that the skimmer needs to wear off before it becomes normal.

What do you mean "the bubbles in the collection cup are really small"?

i'm not terribly familiar with the TMC models, but is there any way you can post a pic? Would help a lot ;). Either way, keep it running as sometimes new skimmers just need to "break in"

okay heres some pics

Wow thats pretty cramped, tough to see whats goin on there . My first comment is that your air water interface at the collection cup is a little too low. Your gonna want to turn that gray knob near the collection cup to get the water-bubble level to be up around another inch right where the cup gets to its narrowest point. As for the bubbles, can you get a clearer picture of the main reaction chamber of the skimmer? Also is there any valve or other means to control the amount of air going into the pump, or the amount of water going INTO the reaction chamber? Tweaking those might help solve your bubble problems.

i think it might be because the water form the skimmer doesntdrain directly into the tank it goes into a section in the hood and goes through holes in there and then drops into the water again. thinking i may need to chop out the end section where the water dribbles out :/

well i ran my skimmer last night and the bubbles in my skikmmer have gotten how they should do (big and foamy) now i just need to leave the skimmer with the bubbles popping just in the neck to 'wear it in' wel,l thats what the booklet says. i think this is a rare occasion that an instruction booklet has been helpful. now im just sitting around hoping these bloody micro bubbles will disapear

Your pictures look to be of a V2 tmc skimmer. They come with a plastic box that attaches to the return pipe. The box has a foam insert that the returning water flows through but the micro bubbles are trapped. When the bubbles build up in the foam they then escape as larger bubbles to the surface. LIKE A FART IN THE BATH.
I don't use the box on my V2. And I suffered from micro bubbles in the tank but it does settle down after a while.

i`ve just set mine up and used the bubble stop, and no problems, its not the nicest bit of kit to look at but a nice acropora is going to hide it :D

I have the AR 620 and fitted the V2 400. I did some modifications so that the outlet from the skimmer feeds some of the water into the filtration system and the remaining joins the filtered water at the overflow box. The Bubble stop, other users have mentioned was then modified with a couple of suction cups to fit in the tank directly under the outlet. You will have to remove the black nozzle fitted under the filtration tray. If you drop me your email address then I will forward some photos. Not worked out how to post them yet !!!!!

see with the micro bubbles i canot get the outlet to feed directly into my tank it has to go through the hood 'tray' and then drains through some holes. this makes the bubblestop unafective so one of the only solutions i can think of is to use a hand saw to cut out the section, silicone/ epoxy the bubblestop underneath and then buy a powerhead because i loos all flow by using the bubblestop. The main problems are that i dont have a hand saw, dont have enough money for a powerhead and still dont have enough live rock so that will be another £55. But im going to be with just live rock until i can get enough money together to sort everything out and get the last bit of my hardware. Then ill start to add fish/ inverts

erm since i cant send you a personal message mantaray ill put my email on this post. Please no one else send me things as i do not want them. Okay my email is [email protected]
