Tips On How To Get Glass Clean

Get the worst of the deposits off with a razor. Then use some vinegar to attack the deposit and soften it followed by a non-scratching Scotch-brite. I completely wore out a Scotch-brite cleaning a new used 55 but it did the trick.

vinegar? Is that ok to use while the fish are in the tank?

The acetic acid in vinegar is easily removed from an empty tank by rinsing it out after cleaning. It is not for a tank with fish in it.

Here's an update on how my tank is cleaning up:

The razor blade got the majority of the gunk off, but there were still the light rings around the tank.
I used the lemon and a scour and scrubbed as hard as I could.
The glass looks pretty good, but I can still see the residual image of the marks.
I'm hoping that when the tank is filled up, it won't be visible.

Thanks to everyone with handy tips!

The key with vinegar is to HEAT it.
Get some white wine vinegar, open the windows, hold your nose, and heat it up. Just until it is simmering, you don't need to boil it. Then use that on the watermarks.
This also works wonders for your kettle if it gets chalky, (you could always do the kettle first, then use that to heat a second batch for the tank!).
Do remember tho, hold your nose cos it stinks, and rinse the kettle afterwards :)
