tiny tank

Assuming you stick with easy to keep, low light, low maintenance plants, sand should be fine. I'd put down a bottom layer of gravel to give the roots something to grab hold of. Take a look at this page for some good plant ideas.

Neons would be ideal.

Modernhamlet: I'm always thinking of new tanks one could do. It's so bad, I come up with tank ideas in my sleep. )
This guy is a tank designing maniac if ever there was one. I sit thinking about what would be nice in your tank and he has this tank and probably several others already planned out. I dont know how you do it modernhamlet but i know where to go if i ever get stuck for an idea ;) :D

Thanks, tstenback! Coming from you, that means something. It is both a gift and curse, I assure you! :D

munkybutter, glad you've got things planned out! Let us know how everything goes!

would live plants not survive well in sand?
and would neon tetras be ok?
neon tetras would be great as long as you don't have any larger fish. I heard that they get eaten by other fish because of their small size.
and i guess plants will survive in the sand at least mine did.
