I have a happy little community in my tank..... 5 black neons, 2 glowlight neons, 1 rainbow shark 2 fantails and I had a 3 cm pleco and now I dont. I don't even know where it's gone. The last time I saw it was a couple of weeks ago ( I can't alway see it). I have searched the tank from top to bottom and did a 360 degree search and it just isn't there. Very bizarre!!!! Could my shark have eaten it??

Have you looked in the filter and ornaments.

It can't get into the filter thankfully and the only ornament I have is a no fishing sign but plenty of plants for them to hide in. I'm at a total loss!!!!

there are a number of options...

I dont think the shark would have eaten him. But he may have died and been picked at

The next option is one that happens all the time with small plecs..... he's hidden!
We used to turn our tanks upside down to find new stock when they dissapered.

Try to get into a good position tonight and watch after lights out - If he's still about - you stand a better chance of spotting him when its dark.

I don't know about the pleco but when you say fantails do you mean goldfish?

Nah Sylvia.... my fantails are platys one is a male red fantail platy and the other is a female fantail platy with black fins and tail and is looking decidedly pregnant!!! :-( . It's still a bit odd about the pleco though :S

Ah ok then :p Fantail platies? You don't mean guppies by any chance? Never seen a fantail platy. Very interesting. If you ever get any pics I'd love to see them :)

do you have sand? Some plecs bury under the sand. My Tiger plec does that. They do it to get out of danger. Maybe he is hiding from the shark you have in there with him. And plecs have a hard skin on them. The only thing that kills them is old age and stress  Well back to the point. Check under your plants and filter. Maybe he is under them.

Hope this helps.

Oops :-( stoopid me!!! Did I say fantail..... I ment wagtail.... durr me gettin my fish and my sons goldfish confused.... he's the one with the fantail..... :S I've searched hi and low for this fish and i cant seen it anywhere... maybe it's so well hidden I'm not gonna find it unless it wants me to.

I wouldn't worry. I lost my 2.5" plec for a few days after he moved tanks. Reappeared on the side of one of the filters. Never understood why plecs seem to love sucking on anything that's dark coloured, regardless of the surroundings.
