Has anyone here ever tried keeping tinfoil barbs with corys? I love cories but have never been able to have any before, same situation with tinfoils, and tiger barbs. My plan is to possibly set up my 110 gallon with alot of barbs. i would like to go with 3 tinfoil, a school of albino, tiger, and green, a synohdontis cat, and some corys. The only thing im worried about right now is wether the corys will do ok with the tinfoil barbs, and while im thinking about it, the synodontis cat. THanks for the help guys!

Most barbs are extreme nippers. A friend of mine had a school of tigers in a QT with a rainbow shark which was to go in a second tank. The shark didn't last the day. I don't think it is advisable to get several nippy species of fish together, as they will inevitably nip each other. I have cherry barbs with Cory cats. While cherry barbs are much more docile, they are still barbs. They have never gone to the lower level of my tank except to eat off an algae wafer. You could try a school of Cory cats with a school of one of the barbs. I don't think they would injure the cats.

i wouldnt recommend keeping less than 6 tinfoils, they are alot happier in big groups,

a 110 gallon tank is borderline size for 6 tinfoils, they should have at least a 6 foot tank as they are active swimmers, most 110 gallon tanks are not that long,

i have kept many tinfoils and in my experience they have never bothered with any other of my fish, bigger or smaller, if the tank is big enough and they are well fed they tend to just mind their own business,

despite their size and reputation, they are actually very peaceful fish, and easy to keep
