has anybody else felt like this
after 15+ yrs im thinking of packing up man in lfs say if i do i will never get back into it again.
so do i stop, drop to one tank (and do something differnt poss shrimps) or just keep going and see what happens

Rob

Only you can decide that. However, LFS man can stick his opinion because how can anyone know what you'll go back to?
It depends on your heart, the time you have to spare, the money in your pocket... things change all the time and you may or may not go back to it, but if you aren't into the hobby and either the fish are suffering, or you are suffering because of it, then I would take a break but don't go mad selling everything, keep a tank set up spare in your shed just in case you have any sudden urges but no money!

i would allways keep one tank in the loft and as for the fish suffering well lets just say i would have stoped a long time ago if that was happening (the wife would have made me)

Hope u didn't take that wrong, I just meant if the fish aren't suffering, then you are probably are because you're not enjoying it as much as you were/want to/could again in the future.

sorry no i didnt take it the wrong way. but i can see what you are saying im down to one tank running and one in the loft (just incase i need / want it)

Rob

Good luck whatever you decide, if you don't want something, don't have it. If you get your mojo back, at least you can get back into it anytime

Hi Rob, I've taken a long break in the past, but I always kept at least one tank going. at one point my basement was floor to ceiling tanks, and I was breeding and selling plants and fishes. When the hobby became a business, it became less fun, and eventually nothing but a chore. Now I do it on a hobby only basis, and it's fun again. If you think you need a break, you probably do. Do yourself a favor though, store the equipment and keep at least one tank going. Ken

I used to have 4 running tanks, until about september last year, and I was beginning to get a bit sick of fish after some fish deaths.

Since then I have got down to 2 running tanks, and have got back into it. However I do not have any intentions of getting more tanks because I found fishkeeping is a lot more fun with less tanks. After a certain amount of tanks it can become a bit of a chore.

Maybe go down to 1 tank or so and I wouldn't be suprised if that makes it easier for you and fishkeeping becomes fun again.

Hi papasmurf, I really wouldn't listen to your LFS because never going back is rubbish and I can vouch for that. I used to keep Oscars, Lima shovelnose catfish Nicoraguense (sp?) and various other Cichlids. Then for personal reasons, I had to give them up, three tanks gone in one day. Now four years down the line, Im itching to get back into the hobby and I can't wait to get my new tank and get the fishless cycle over and done with so I can start restocking. I honestly believe that once fishkeeping is in your blood, you will always come back to it.

Thanks all but what about the change ie freshwater shrimps just for something new is this a good or a bad idea
you know new goals and all that

You could have a go at breeding some unusual shrimps. tiger, bumblebee etc there is a huge market for that
