Hi. I have had a pretty busy year with my Cherry Shimp tank. They bred like crazy and after rehoming nearly all of them, I am deciding on a new Shrimp project. Like last time it will be a Shrimp only setup in a 60l planted. I would like to stick to one species aswell. The two 'finalists' I have in mind are Tiger Shrimp and Bumble Bee Shrimp. Has anyone had any experience with either of these?

Wow just seen some blue Tiger Shrimp for sale on a certain website and they are gorgeous. They are not cheap though.

Personally I would go with the less fussy of the two types. I have crstal reds and in our summer heat I am doubtful the few I have are going to survive, also crystal reds are natorious for dropping dead for the slightest of reasons. If you went with tigers I belive there are a lot more colour options available rather than degrees of Red and white or Black and White.

what websites that on ive seen some blue pearl on ebay that are £4.50 each and there only 0.5cm-1cm

They were on a website called beeshrimp.co.uk over in Bangor, Northern Ireland. They were £10 each. I have been researching them but it seems that they only in existance through selective breeding. Their offspring are meant to be quite weak and not all of them will be blue.

I do not fancy CRS's for that exact reason. The Bumble Bees are a seperate species which are meant to be a little more tolerable, but I can not find any decent ones at a good price. I think that I will go for the Tigers.

If you do find a good price etc keep us updated. Would be interested to know if you find anything.

I have considered importing from Germany, they have a great selection but unless you are getting a few or high grade stuff then the shipping does bump up the price.

I went to the Abyss today and got some Black Bee Shrimps. They were about 4 quid each but have great colouration. I would say that they are A grade or maybe even S grade. They are a decent size aswell, around 1.5cm. I have my eye on some S grades from beeshrimp.co.uk to beef the colony up and add some different blood. Will try and get a pic up but I always have trouble photographing Shrimp.
