Basically out of boredom from a day off work I went into my LFS to pick up some new food. While looking around as I always do I came across 2 6 inch Tiger Shovel nosed catfish for 19 bucks each. I couldnt tell you how tempted I was to snatch one up. Those are absolutly awesome looking. I already have a 220 gallon being built for a future Dovii. This has definatly put a bug in my head to get another larger tank going.

they are gorgeous although once you buy them you don't have much time to sort out a huge tank for them 500g min really.

i grew my 3" up to 15" in just 5 months.

Im not going to buy it right now as I dont have a place to house it. It just got the wheels turning in my head. Theres quite a few setups that Id like to have as Im always coming across something new and interesting. I have the perfect place to set up a large tank like that.....after I get rid of that pesky couch....I mean come on, who needs to sit down anyway :fun:

To be honest, I'd say 500 gallon is pushing it for a 4 foot fish... :/

For a good quality of life you'll be looking at 12 foot by 6 foot as a bare minimum. at 3 foot tall I make that over 1,300 UK gallons.

But if tyou can provide it, go for it. The moment I move out of a flat I'm building a tropical pond to house some TSN and RTC (just got to find somewhere with a nice size garden to dig up :D )

On a growing note, I seem to recall that they slow down a bit in their growing after the 18" to 2 foot mark. Though I may be as far out as David Icke with that... :alien:
