So, my LFS has a BEAUTIFUL Tiger Oscar that has been there for months. He is pushing 3 inches in a 10g tank. I am thinking that when I get my 55g running, which will be in about a month or so, is this sufficient enough tank to rescue him? He is so pretty and I cannot fathom the though of him being in that little tank forever! I really think I want to save him, but 12 inches is a lot of fish. Is 55g adequate? And what can go with him in that size?

I think the minimum for 1 Oscar is 75 gallon. Some people keep them in 55 gallon tho, just Oscars get a few inches bigger than 12 inches. I kinda want to get one myself, just not sure how the Oscar will get along with my current fish.

I think it will be better if you get a 75gallon instead, if you can still switch tank size. Bigger is still better. 2ft width is better IMO, gives them more room to turn.

+1 for 75g, think an oscar would pretty much destroy anything in a 55g but i could be wrong?

Thanks for the reply. I have a friend that has a huge tank. Maybe a gift? (depending on his stocking lol) I just feel so bad for that little guy, but I wouldn't want to put him in another incompatible tank.
