So basically the parrot fish mated with the oscar. Laid eggs, but because there not supposed to mate with eachother. The eggs wont hatch? Your insight is appreciated.

Possibly but what size are the fish? Many female cichlids will lay a batch of eggs solo, parrots are particularly prone to this. The oscar may or may not have tried to fertilise them (eating the eggs suggests not) but since the 2 fish are far to different genetically there is no chance they would be fertile.

the parrot will still lay the eggs as they are acting like a pair but the Oscar wont fertilise the eggs hense why they wont Hatch.

im no fish expert but this is my theory
