How many could I keep in a twenty gallon U.S. tank??

And maybe their right.. who knows..

And I just keep it specifically to Barbs..

If its the twenty gallon in your sig then i wouldn't advise adding anymore fish....Tiger barbs IMO ae best suited towards a 30gal + tank....They require a fair bit of swimming room to ease their aggressive nature and a group of atleast 6-7.

I have 12 in the "tiger tank" in my sig. and they are thriving. They are kept strictly as a species tank (I personally have had better luck keeping tigers separately from other fish...Less stressful).

Is the twenty gallon tank you are planning on using a "long"? If so, you may be able to keep a few more than if it is a "standard". The 20 long has the same surface area as a 29 gallon but is not as "tall".

It's standard, but from what I hear I wonder if it would be an even trade for a long??

As long as you wouldn't put any other fish in the 20g, 10 or even a couple more tiger barbs should be fine. Just make sure that the tank is a longer tank.
