i was wondering if albino corries and tiger barbs are compatible. also what is a good largish fish that can be kept by its self and is compatible with tiger barbs.

Firstly how big's your tank that will help loads with making a choice on how big a fish you can keep and how many.

But i don't see there been a problem with the cory's and tiger barbs.

its a 29 gal. i was thinking 5 albino corries, 9 tiger barbs and then the largish fish.

What i know about tiger barbs is that the more you have there less likley to attack other fish.

In a 29gal some sort of Gourami maybe a Moonlight Gourami or Snakeskin Gourami.or maybe or some sort of Julie cichlids.

But if i could maybe make a suggestion

if i was you i'd buy sand substrate and get some bamboo in your tank and some live plants like Moneywort or Baby-tears Bacopa they work well with the bamboo then i'd but some coolie loaches to go with the tiger barbs that my friend would look great IMO .

i kept both these together for a spell, with no problems at all. Dandanuk's sugestion of sand is a very good one, cories love burrowing and digging, and the smaller the substrate grains, the more benfical bacteria you have, which is always good news!
Have you though about a shark for a bigger fish, Redtail or rainbow shark? they are good at keeping barbs in line, and shouldn't bother your cories.. But they can reach 6" :/ maybe a little overkill?
Some danios might look good in there tho! with TB's and cories, everything will be in the bottom 2/3rds of your tank, the top will be empty most of the time...2-3 (not sure on minimum?) giant danios might fit the bill nicely...
