Hello,

I have one of my TB,s which looks like an ulcer on its side at the gill.

signs

It looks also a bit white fluffy
possibly even a little red.
It looks a little swollen

Hangs at the top a little while then seems to recover and swim with the rest.

Can this be caused by fighting or I have only plastic plants could it have been injured that way?

Can this be Dropsy or bacterial infection.

I will try to add a small photo.

If its swollen are the scales pin cushioing, its dropsy. If its cotton wool type stuff then its a fungal infection.

i've never quite seen anything like that before.
like darkentity says it could be fungal if is a bit fluffy

at the very least i'd recommend quarantine, and treat this one and the other tank with something like melafix

thats a decent tonic really, if we get a better diagnosis there may be something more specific you can do

:( Oh, that looks nasty, it may have started as an injury, But if it's spreading I would say it was bacterial and treat with Interpet no'9.

Quite a large area though :/ fingers crossed for you.

Hi Thanks for the replys

What do you mean by scales pin cushioning?

I am using Primafix will this be okay?

I have to say it does seem to be spreading the fish also seems to be having trouble in the water sometimes the current seems to turn the fish on its side and floats away then recovers..

The white (skin, scales not to sure) seem to be peeling off as the area infected gets larger.

Would it be better to end it now as it might be sufering more?

Thanks again.
