Tiger Barb Tank Mates?

Your list of fish sound ok, i would go for the Red Tailed Shark as they look stunning when they get bigger. Mine is 3" now and looks stunning

good choice :good: i highly doubt the shark would attack a barb or vice versa.

and, Rafael Dilone, i don't think Angelfish with tiger barbs would be a very good idea considering the finage

Well that would only occur if the tank is far to small. Then the fishes would get a little aggressive towards each other if not provided with enough room. But all the encyclopedias and books say they go along fine with each other. I will quote below something from one book I read.

"Barbs are semi-aggressive fish when housed in the aquarium individually, so it is important to maintain each species in groups of six or more. This technique will minimize aggression towards more passive tank mates."

how many red tailed sharks?
how big is this tank and also, i'd worry about the sword tails. how big are the tiger barbs?

I had 2 of them, they are now back at the pet store. Had a think about them and said that although they do a good job in keeping the tank clean, they will get way too big for the 180L tank. Check my signature, thats what I have now. Five barbs are about 1.5 inches and will not grow any larger (They were originally kept in a small tank until I was given them.) Two other barbs are about 1/2 an inch and will grow pretty big i'm sure since I have them as babies..feeding them only the best of food too.

I didn't much like the red finned shark (these are different to the red tailed one isn't it?) since it got very agressive after a few days towards all the other fish but didn't dare going near the barbs! At least now that they are gone the tank mates are happy!!

I am wondering if i would be able to school tiger barbs in my tank with some yoyo loaches, bristle nose pleco, and red tail shark. is this combination ok, and if so what else what i be able to add to this tank successfully. I have a 35 gallon hex. Thanks :good:
