Ok i have three questions,

1) When I get my tank i want all my equipment to be hidden(i can't stand things that look messy), is this easily done? Can anyone show/give me examples?

2) Can you please give me examples of fish that can live in both fresh, and saltwater?

3) I plan to put my tank in my kitchen, will this affect the tank much, if at all?

1) It can be done, by hiding powerheads behind rocks, and putting heaters, protein skimmers, et cetera in the sump.

2) Mollies, Arius, most Sturgeons, certain Eels, Targetfish, certain Cichlids (i.e., Jack Dempsey), et cetera. Needless to say, few of them are suitable for the average "wussy fish" reef tank!

3) If any chemicals or sprays get into the water, it will have a devastating effect on the fish/invertebrates.

The only sure fire way to reduce the impact equipment has on aesthetics is to plan a sump. You can put everything in there, and maybe add just a couple of powerheads, or a closed loop to the display. Plan well, and youll find you can accomplish this, melevsreef.com is a good site to learn about sump plans.

How much would every thing i need to make my own sump cost? What tools will I need? Are there any video i could watch?

I went on Ebay and saw the were selling sumps, with protien skimmer and everything, for 300$, is this good?

also,

what type of paint do you guys use on the back of your tanks? is it easy to use? how much does it cost?

Plain old flat black latex house paint :). $5 for a pint

What about the hood? what stain or finish do you use? Cause the water will drip back into the tank after collecting on the hood.... is carbon a must with a stained hood? I've been wondering for a little while now... and well its sorta on the topic :p

Marine or boat epoxy works the best ;). You can get it online or at any local boating store
