Paid Kelson a visit at his shop and got these 3 beauties. I simply could not resist the temptation.

Here they are...

Wow. Wow. Wow.

They are all wonderful.

I am absolutely dying over the platinum and the orange...

Well, I figured that since Chinese New Year (based on lunar calendar) is just around the corner, it's good to have more fish ("Yu") and since I've got no time to breed bettas lately, why not buy more to have an abundant new year ("Nian Nian You Yu")? This was what I told my wife when she started nagging again about having too many fish in the house.

"Yu" (translated) - Abundance / Fish.
"Nian Nian You Yu" (translated) - May every year be of abundance.

Daniel! Good pick. Those are very new special and they are awesome. It is good for this starting new year getting new bettas. Did you get any females? Are you going to breed it? Oh yeah, Is Kelson in Singapore or in Malaysia? :D

Hi Prof Yee,

Your ceramic sculptures look fabulous. Hope the start of the new school term and the new university environment have not made you too busy for your hobby.

My work (which includes short overseas assignments) is killing me and I haven't really got the time to breed my bettas. Fortunately, my understanding wife takes care of my bettas whenever I'm away. I know she's doing all this siphoning and poop-sucking because she

me.

Kelson is from Singapore and his shop is located in Katong (opposite the famous Katong Laksa). The following are the URL to his website and his business card.

Dear folks,

Thank you for the comments about Kelson's fish.

I'll be sending him the link to this thread. :)

Aiya. What professor arr. Hahaha Just making a living and spend all my money into bettas. hahaha. Thanks for compliment my ceramics. I need to get back to make some ceramics when the weather getting prettier. Too cool and lazy to get into my ceramics studio that is in my garage. Yes, University already started, get things organized, and a lot of work here. Luckily I don't have to teach new classes this time so I be a bit relaxing. :) It will be better after next week. I still keep going with my bettas at home and I just change all the water. I am eager to see how my babies betta going to look like since I keep cross breeding. LOL :p I think it is fun. I probably will keep on crossing with my fancy mask red gold halfmoon betta down the line. (the one in the avagator). I like the mask scales that has white shinning platinum on his head and whole body. Will see what will happen when it cross over other color females and see how the babies will look like. I just got a batch of babies (100 maybe) from him and with a gold yellow halfmoon female.
I thought earlier Kelson is at Thailand since he put his address from Thailand in aquabid. He got pretty nice set up bettas display in his shop that shown in his web. :) So he is in Singapore. I see. So how is the Malaysia price for halfmoon and crowntail betta now? Are they cheaper to get than in thailand? I heard my nephew in law that they sale for like $10.00 us or ringgit? Not sure which price and KL got people breeding bettas now. So how is the market? In sabah, it is still hard to get and hardly people want to spend that much of money anyway like 50 to 60 ringgit for one halfmoon that is not very nice color. :)

In Bangkok, you should be able to get a nice betta for around 200 Thai Baht (SGD$8.50 or US$6 or 19.80 Malaysian Ringgit) at the Chatuchat (also known as Jaktujak or simply J.J.) Weekend Market. You might even be able to get a lower price (e.g. 150 Thai Baht) if you speak Thai e.g. "Prang... Lot Long Noy?" (Translated: "Too expensive... Could you lower the price?").

In Malaysia, Sunny Chai ([email protected]) of Kai Aik Marine breeds, sells and delivers bettas to people's doorsteps (only in Peninsula Malaysia). His website has the price in Malaysian Ringgit . The following is the URL.

I found my newly acquired Pineapple Plakat featured on Kelson's website. It's a nicer shot of the fish with a better camera.
