Hi

Has anyone had experience with these?
Are they as difficult to come by as what i have read on some sites?
Are they really as pricey as what some of the sites i have read say they are?

Thanks

I'm in the UK and these rainbows are pretty much a stock item, always lots available, locally. They are not very expensive, about £2 each.I've kept them and found them as easy as any other rainbowfish. However like other rainbows they tend to be prone to mouth fungus once introduced to a new tank.
Being a small fish with long finnage they do better kept alone but they mix ok with some other small types of rainbow such as southern blue eyed or with lampeyes.Don't mix them with guppies as these can be persistant fin nippers.

I think I paid $3-4 each a year ago.

Something to keep in mind when feeding is that they have a very small mouth. They they are a gentle fish and need appropriate size food, e.g. Hikari Micro Pellets.

They are available here, and not overly expensive. No reason for them to be really, they are quite easy to breed, although being small mouthed, the fry are difficult to feed, but with enough infusoria ready before it is needed, they present no real challenges.
