I have recently entered the stunning world of bettas, bringing home my gorgeous red veil tail Finnick, yesterday!
I am so in love already, and already planning to get another tank for another betta!
Finnick currently lives in my 10 gallon with 4 live bearers, and he is a VERY active boy! One of the reasons I chose him, he l was in a big tank, speeding round at the front just saying "Pick me!", looking all so charming and healthy! He holds his fins very nicely for a veil tail!

I am looking for another tank suitable, so I can get another betta (I cant divide my tank atm, but is possible if need be and if that is going to be best)! I am wondering, what is everyones thoughts on the 3L cubes that you can buy for betta fish? http://www.fourseasonspets.co.nz/afawcs0138365/CATID=0/SUBID=620/ID=7693/SID=122713167/productdetails.html

I am looking for a tank no bigger than 15L, to sit on my desk. I have been looking at a 14L tank, which I think is going to be the best, but then I was thinking about these. Now of course I know the bigger the better, but if a betta was going to be happy in one of these, then it would be the perfect size for my desk! What is everyones thoughts, and also is there going to be a gender preference on who is going to be happier in this tank? Or are these tanks just purely bad for bettas? Thanks :)

I keep mine in a 12 litres.he's very happy.

3liter tanks are no god. I would recommend you get that 14 liter, and read up on the care info in this sub forum. I cant post links, but also read about cycling.

There's no way you can house a betta in a 3L, get the "biggest" tank you are willing to get. I would recommend at least an 18L (5 gallon) tank.

Also, do you mean gender preference for a tank that size? If so, it's the same either way, male or female.

That also gives you room to add some plants which will make the fish feel right at home and promotes better health and color in the fish. It's a winning situation all around to get the 14-20L tank.

Yeah I was reading one of the Practical Fishkeeping-type articles that reckoned environmental enrichment lead to bigger brains and more outgoing healthier fish (not with Bettas tho, an economically important sp was used maybe cod? but expected this to apply to fish generally) so a bigger tank can bring a variety of botanicals, hard landscaping aka ornaments to hide in etc plus other tank mates.
