Im not sure if all of you have ghost shrimp but they are really cheap and they are very fun to watch. I have them in a 20 and a 10. It just makes me laugh because in the 10 gallon there is nothing to disturb them so they venture out. But as you can see for the 20:

They wait till its dark to try and go out and they hold up their little fort in the dark caves until the puffer strolls in and spots one. Then they all jet. I think its great :D :D :D :D

Shrimps are cool thingies. I have18 ghost /amano shrimps in my 60-liter tank and I only see one or two at the same time. They are really sweet. I should buy another 20 so I might even see them sometimes.

Mm.. Shampoo - Trouble

I have 1 shrimp at the moment, Jaque. Or however you spell it. I am probably going to buy my lfs out the next time I go.

Yea they have actually sort of adapted to my tank the past few days. My puffer has had trouble getting to them because of all the spots that they can hide in. But I think he gets a few every now and then. My LFS is selling them @ 5 for a $1. I mean, I have to buy 10 everytime I go in there. lol A few of them in my 10 gallon had lots of eggs in them and I put a brick with some holes in there to maybe some how make a chance of them hatching and living. I'm not gonna get all crazy though. But I do have a question. What do the shrimps look like when they hatch. I just found a little 1 or 2 gallon rectangular tank downstairs that I could maybe put them in.

My 10 Gallon Setup - just snails and shrimps and 1 live plant.
Does this look ok?

if u like the look of the tank then its ok... cool puttin the plant in one of the holes of that long thingy on bottom :D

Well right now my goal is to have snails in there so maybe ill get a few fish for it soon. But I was thinking about getting some sand for gravel and putting it around the outside of the brick. Then putting a diff plant of some sort in every hole or every other hole in the brick. I think that could look kind of cool.

They're hard to see, they look like mini ghosties

When I had a peaceful community tank, I had ghosties that bred like crazy! Just make sure they have a nice heavy plant (so the babes don't turn into lunch) and a strong water flow over the egg laying area, you should be good to go

Sweet thanks, I can actually sorta see the eggs growing in the shrimp. Right now they just have that brick with the plant in there. The only other things in there are snails and other shrimps, hopefully the shrimps dont eat their young?? And, what are the chances that they get sucked up by the filter? I figured when they hatched and started swimming they'd get caught by the current and up the schute.

getting sucked into the filter is a possibility, you could wrap a sponge around the intake with rubber bands, or find a small rectangular sponge and cut out the center and slip it over the intake

i got some ghost shrimp awhile ago and (6-7 i think) and they only lasted about 3days tops....none were eatin and none were picked on that i seen they just didnt make it

maybe ill give them another chance and get some more,,,,,,my mom got my first ones from walmart - maybe that was the problem :dunno:
