This may sound stupid, but

One of my platies, for the last 2 days has been constantly having a poo. As soon as the poo breaks of at about 3" it continues for a while, then about 2 hours later is going again. Is this normal, its certainly making my filter work hard

Are you over feeding, have you been giving the fish alot of veg.

Plattys are well known for their poopability.

I used to think that mine were having competitions with each other to see who could produce the longest poop!!!

How long have you had them? Long enough to know that this isnt normal?

I feed them twice a day, they are in a tank mixed with mollies, guppies, angels and yo yo loaches. To be honest I've never really noticed how much they poop but my wife noticed it yesterday and I reckon that if the lsat poop never broke up ir probably would of measured well over 6".

Feeding them twice a day won't help though. They simply don't need that much.

I feel mine once a day and even then I regularly miss days out.
