This isn't Halfmoon!

It just makes me so mad because I ordered a Half Moon, not a Veiltail with a split in it's tail. Oh well.

You paid too much for him if he's a ripped veiltail. Oh well, guess you know how "reliable and knowledgeable " the LFS ended up being.

Oh well, he is beautifully colored, and hopefully will bring you plenty of joy even though he's not quite what you expected.

Yeah, I guess I shouldn't rely on them for Bettas now huh? They're good with everything else though. :dunno:

Maybe, if you ask nice ;) , they'll order a real HM for ya...on the house.
The question is, do they know what one is? :shifty:

Oh well, may be time to bite the bullet and throw down some cash if you really want something nice. Maybe if you post a wanted ad on this site (in buy and sell, of course!), one of the tff members will make you a reasonable offer.

The question is, do they know what one is?

 True!

Well, StingrayKid, maybe you should show them a picture of what you're looking for. Or just buy your bettas somewhere else, as Cation said.

That's a good idea! I'll print out a picture of one and show them and ask if I can get one of these. Thanks. :)

Well as u say Cation his Dorsal does look big

But The DT has a Short Body and a curved spine, and of course there very long dorsals

Heres a pic of a Twin Tail this guy breeds VTs and cuts there tails at young age so they become into two tails. Thats what we call a twin tail I dont know why sick people cut bettas tails so they look better. anyways before I start cursing out the seller who sells these fish. Im just gonna stop. :p

As u can see he looks like a VT but his tail is split in two

The bottom Attached picture is a real DT As u can see hes got a Short bodies long dorsal fins. And if u look closely u could see a little spine curve.

Note: Male is the Big Finned one

I think it carries the DT gene. The dorsal is long in depth (front to back) and the peduncle is reasonably wide, which is a real characteristic of DT. The edges of the caudal and the corners do not look right to be a HM, but it needs to flare 100% to know for sure about the spread. There is no curve to the spine, but that doesn't always appear. It happens more from breeding a DT to a DT. It really looks like a DT spawned with a VT. Coming from a lps, they get their shippments from a wholesaler, who gets them from a seller overseas. They get mixed up alot, so they don't know for sure what they have. It is quite different from a breeder selling individual fish that he knows the genetics on. The first HM I owned came from an lps. He ordered 12, and only 1 out of the bunch was a HM.

Awww Stingray kid, hes the same colouring as my recently deceased Hellboy :-( Kind of pinkish with red marking in tail and fins. whatever it is its a very beautiful fish. My Hellboy was a great character and had the most stunning blue eyes but looked liek he was only a combtail! Good luck on your search for a Half moon! :D

Thanks, I really do like him. I will continue my search for a Half moon at my LFS this weekend. Thanks for all the help guys! :)
