Right, i need a hood for my tank, as the old one doesnt have sufficient space for a light unit.

So what im going to do is make it out of plastic, the see through stuff, and im going to take a chunck out of the cut plastic for the hood, and then glue a hinge to the main bit of plastic and to the bit of plastic i will cut out. Then add alittle knob so i can pull it. This should work as a nice opening to feed the fish (BETTAS!).

About the light unit, im not quite sure how to go about it, i have a light system at the moment for a 2ft tank, so im planning on possibly screwing it into the plastic, or again glueing it. Then i will need to find away to cover up the bulb so it doesnt blind every body.

Any ideas?

can you draw your plans and put them on here and i might be able to help you out ive never made a light canopy but have about 10 different styles on paper

Heres my drawing lmao, sorry its not to clear on what i mean.
Key:
Black bit on top: Light unit.
Red: Tank opening for feeding.
Yellow: Light tube.
Goldy/Green: Hinges.
Blue: Knobs.

Just be careful with the plastic. Flourescents will break it down over time, so plan on replacing it in a few years.
