Ok... in our 10 gallon tank, we have a heater, and a water filter... in our one gallon, there's only an air stone. Shouldn't the 10 gallon have something like the air stone too? How do the fish get air? I'm really sorry if this is a dumb question, but I'm curious.

If your filter is rippiling the tank water surface you don't need an airstone, some fish like to play in the bubbles of the airstone, but it's always best to have an airstone as when you use meds, the airstone put aeration into the tank as meds take the 02 out of the water.

You can add an airstone some fishkeepers like the bubbles, but i would get a gang valve so you can turn the flow up and down.

As long as your fish are staying near the surface like their gasping for air, you are probably fine. As Wilder said, if you're getting surface aggitation, your fish are getting oxygen.

What is the filter called you are using.

You live in the united states then not familar with them filters, sorry.

How long has the tank been set up, and what are your water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.

tanks been set up a couple days before we added fish. i dont have clue what the water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph are. fish are ok though... at least in that tank.
