This is NOT ok

That is pretty sad if it is true. Can someone confirm if Walmart is actually doing this sort of thing. I mean it is so over the top I just can't imagine a chain store selling such items.

I did a bit of googling and it seems like they are selling service dog vests (which is legit); but some people are putting them on non-service dogs... is that the actual case here or is something else going on ?

Actually, dogs technically don’t even need a vest. Restaurants and the like can’t legally ask for proof of the dog being a service dog (at least that was true the last time I read it but that was awhile ago). If they ask and the person with the dog said “Yes they are a service dog” and that’s it. The restaurant has to let them in.

It shouldn’t be the case though, because if they aren’t a service dog then they put people and actual service dogs at risk. They aren’t usually trained to be in situations, or even just out with different people, and they could potentially attack.

People do a lot of things that put people in danger like carrying loaded guns in their pockets or purse. I mean there are worse things in the world; that doens't make it right but it is like focusing on a dime when there is a $25 gold piece next to it....

I realize that it’s a somewhat trivial problem in the grand scheme of things, but it’s something I care about.
In response to your first post, people can only get legit service dog vests from the place that they got their service dog, no where else. Walmart is selling fake vests, ID’s, and patches to people who want to pass their dogs off as service dogs that way they can take them everywhere.

Yes, I hate this. When someone gets to bring their out of control chihuahua into a restaurant because it's wearing a "service animal" vest, when it's clearly not trained to do anything but yap and get under foot. REAL service dogs will never be whining or yelping or shaking in public, because they have been trained for years to be used to loud sounds and other people. I was in the airport the other day, and this "service dog" took a poop right in the middle of the hallway because it was so scared. Naturally the owner refused to pick it up and made the janitor do it.

It's just become an excuse to bring any animal, not just dogs, anywhere you want.

Oh my fricking god... You ACTUALLY saw that happen!? That just makes me wanna give him the knuckle sandwich right in his face. Then he asks the janitor to clean it!? WHAT THE HECK IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE!? Poor dog...

Random guy: "Why do you have an emotional support badger, that's kinda stupid"

Honey badger: *intensely growls*

Me: "Its ok little guy, he's just being dumb. Hey, wanna find out what an emotional support honey badger does?

Random guy: *laughs* "Uhh suuuure...."

[The next section of this story is highly graphic and is not suitable for stupid people with anxiety who may encounter a badger]
