This is a strange one....

Don't use General Cure because it contains an anti-biotic (Metronidazole) and these should only be used on known bacterial infections that haven't responded to normal treatments. Improper use and mis-use of anti-biotics has lead to drug resistant bacteria that kill people, animals, birds, fish and reptiles.

If you want to try a medication, try Flubendazole, which treat a wide variety or worms.

If you want to use Praziquantel, look for it as a deworming product. and treat the tank. Praziquantel only treats flat/ tape worms.

Levamisole can be used to treat some species of round/ thread worms. Flubendazole is better if you can get it.
 
Yes metronidazole is good against anaerobic bacteria but also for some parasites (mainly amoeba and protozoa). However I don't know if these parasites are the ones I would be targeting. (I'm a pharmacist btw)

Edit: removed nematodes/trematodes as I could not verify it is effective against them
