Well, this is the third time my bolivian rams have spawned. The first time the eggs hatched, but the fry were either eaten or died before the became free swimming. The second time, quite a few actually got to where they swam around with the parents during the day, but then slowly dwindled in number, and eventually were gone. We knew it was coming this time because we know what to look for now, so any advice on keeping them alive? Special food? We don't want to take them out of the tank, because the rams do a fairly good job protecting them, and there's nothing that is a huge threat in the tank anyway. If that might help though, we will... Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

The parents just need practice with raising fry, don't have much experience in separating the fry from the parents, so all I can tell you is that the pair will eventually get the hang of raising fry, patience is vital with breeding fish, and practice makes perfect. Good luck

Ya, I feel lucky that they even hatched the first time, and the the second time we really thought some were going to make it, so we have high hopes this time, and just want to help out any way we can :)

They love newly hatched brine shrimp and micro worms. Do you have any cory cats in the tank? If so, they might be eating the fry at night when the parents are much less able to guard the fry.
