Hi all

Thinking of getting some(1) dwarf puffers and a couple of horse faced loaches for my 30G(UK) tank, just now it hold 2 small asain bumblebee catfish (about an inch), its fully cycled as it was home to my marble convict fry for a few months, but they have moved on to the lfs.

Its a semi-planted tank with a lot of slate and bogwood providing hiding places.

Would this be a good idea?

Would really love the puffers and so would forgo the loaches if I had to.

Haven't test the tank for a few weeks but stats were.

Ammonia 0
Nitrate 0
Nitrite 0
PH 7.2

Thanks for the advice, DP are now of the agenda, pity because I quite liked them. But I still have the pleasure of watching the bumblebees grow up, just going to have to find some suitable tank mates for them.

unless you want to get rid of all your fish in that tank now is the only way you can get a dwarf puffer because they harrass and bit the other fish till they die

not always true, we had 3, 2 were harassed everything, but one of em is in a community tank and doesnt bother anything, been in there 6-8months no problems. I'd say depends on the puffer.

I have been interested in DP myself, so what type of puffer is it that hasn't bothered anything Cobra607?

Currently a dwarf puffer is in with 4 severums, a fire eel, japura, reed fish, clawed frogs, yellow tailed eel, knifefish, in a 150 gallon and there all buddies, he dont bother them they dont bother him. He never gave em any problems when they were smaller either, but like i said 2 other dwarfs were little a-holes....

Also i had a figure 8 puffer that after checking it out(bitting once haha) and found it wasnt food, didnt bother any other fish, he was peacefull if kept full.

My grandma also has a green spotted puffer in full salt water with MANY fish in a 125, with no problems what so ever...

My belief is that on most puffer fish(no expirience with mbu, fahakas, ect) but a well fed puffer should find a need to harass other fish, but thats just my opinion.

**edit** forgot but the ONLY time the dwarf puffer showed agression was when i put the figure 8 in the 150(just for holding for a few), he chased him all around the tank like he wanted to kill him, obviously they dont like other puffers.
