Thinking Of Buying A New Tank

hello,
what would be an idea smallish tank that is fairly cheap (£150)
i was looking at the Fluval Duo Deep 800,
it has to be above 20 UKG and systemised preferbly (because im very new to fish keeping and have a small 20 litre systemised tank with 1" Bronze cory and 2x1" albino TB)

well what you think?(and yes i know i need atleast 2 more Bronze and 1 Barb)

well? any surgestions?

Have you looked on ebay for a bargain? worth a try..

You could get a Juwel Rio of some sort for that money if you shop around.. although not everyone likes them

yeh ive been on ebay and thats where i first saw the Fluval Duo range, i was first opting for the 1200 but its too large and slightly more expencive at the moment,
whats the Juwel rio like?, sizes etc and why dont some people like it?

does anyone have any info/spec's for the Fluval duo deep like fetures etc eg does it have seperate light switches?

hi you could try http/www.aquarist-classifieds.co.uk/ for a second hand tank thats were i got my jewel rio 240 with stand for a bargin 100 quid and touch wood i aint had no problems with mines i think its down to personal prefernce as to what type and size tank etc etc good luck

hmm imay have a look i have no prefference because this is my 2nd tank and my first 'brand'name one i just looked at peoples bios and the word 'fluval' kept poping up so i searched and found one that fit my budget and size requirements,
but my mum has serious isues about giving details over the internet (tecknophobic, but not sure if thats a real word )
so ill get my dad to do it hmm but he is alittle anti fish ...

Hi Phoenixfish,I have the Duo Deep 800,and am very happy with it.I did replace the Filter with an Eheim2213,because my bio load is slighty over the 1 inch to the Gallon rule.The lights do have a switch,i have added a timer to my setup.Anything else you want to know just ask.

whats the spec like? i mean are the filters etc good for the tank,the bare min?

i dont intend to over load the tank well least not for the moment lol
i need it to re house my other fish and so i can enlarge the group

or should i scrap the systemised and go for a glass tank and add the additional parts? but then id have to get a hood for the lights
i have £150 at the moment but am in the process of gaining more hopefully by the end of this month...
im so confuzed

The filter was OK ,but I found that I spilt water everywhere when I cleaned the pads,just got fed up with it .It does give a very good water flow and I didn't really have any complaints with it.
I would certainly buy another one(tank).The hood can be lifted of very easily for maintenance etc.
Go for it!!!!.

well its got alittle worse now because cabinfever has stuck in lol one of my AT B has fin nipped the other...
i could get one more to mare a trio but that be it

im gonna look at my local tonight/tomorrow and check out their tanks too

they have alot of glass tanks and one or two filters and heaters but the problem is...

is it possible to buy a glass 20-30 UKG tank have alarge enought filter and heater
(ive got to buy things new tho mum dont like ebay and buying stuff online even if its off you guys )
and also whats the cance of me finding acompatable filter and heater there? its got to be a kind of buy all in one go sort of thing...
and with a budget of only 150

And other bits and bobs.

what size is it 30 gallons ish ant it? but which UK or US

It's 30uk. 36us.Don't forget if you have Gravel or sand it will displace some of the water ie less room.

yeh i know it will prob drop to about 25-27 Uk, im having sand instead of gravel because of the amunt of corys i intend to have
