Okay i visited the garden centre today and have looked at the preformed ponds. There is one that is just the right size for £36. I would also like to purchase a fountain,appareantly it has filter media in it so will this be ok? Oh and i was told that it will be ok for a sturgeon or 2 until they grow.

As i said, nope.
Stergeons are very much unsuited to pond life, even in Yorkshire it is too warm for them- stergeons need near-freezing temps all year round, most stergeons come from ice cold very strong fast flowing and highly oxygenated mountain rivers and streams. Besides, your pond would most likely be far too small for such a fish considering that even the smallest stergeon commonly available grow to 1-2metre's long (i'd estimate a fish that big would need a pond at least 5 metre's wide and 9metres long).
To be honest i often wish people would stop selling them over here so much, like red tailed catfish, the majority end up in ponds too small or unsuited to them and end up dying.

The only way you'd be able to keep one well over here is if you had a very big and deep pond with a powerful river type filtration system in it.

Right okay tokis, just so you know, my uncle has a 4000G pond Up on a farm and it's cold. It currently contains 4 Sturgeons. So rehoming him wouldn't pe a problem.

What would you suggest for stocking?
Could i add sweetwater mussels?

i agree its a defo no to a stergeon, we tryed once in our massive pond hand made one, its has 2 huge exstenal filer 2 inside the pond and a fountin pluss and 2 air stone pluss lots of weed, but they have a bad streek of jumping out if its not top quality water.

so all we have now are koi, tench, goldfish cross things and orufs.
