right so first book ordered

The New Marine aquarium as recomended above....

Now back to internet reading :D

well i have space for about an 8 footer.... but dont have the liquid assets to go that big, so im thinking a 5 foot one, or bigger if i come across a bargin on the bay....

all my reading, as well as the advice on here, has basically said, bigger is better, esp when it comes to water chemistry, which makes sense.

EDIT**

My first purchase has arrived....

Its a book
"The New Marine Aquarium" By Michael S Paletta, 7 quid out of the rain forest.

Bigger = more stable water because there is more of it BUT remember with more water volume you will need more live rock which is expensive, more powerheads, big maybe 2 heaters, a very powerfull skimmer and of course lighting will cost more in tubes and electricity.

If you really are considering it, I would start with a 5-6ft fish only tank. The reason being is you do not have to monitor as many water parameters for just fish only. Run that for a year so you get a feel of what your doing and the running cost etc then if everything is good get some corals, that will give your knowledge and system time to mature.

I started with just fish, ran that for a year until I got to grips with everything and am only now just starting to put corals in.

Just my opinion.
