Thinking Its Time For A Change...

so for 8 months I have got to watch and see my tank thrive and the fish grow, but lately I have noticed im not satisfied with the tank anymore. 
 
my current stock is
 
1 bumble bee cichlid
1 jeweled cichlid 
1 yellow lab
1 red eyed albino cichlid
1 male kenyi
6 female kenyi
 
my tank is a 65 gal tank. please guys shoot me some ideas, looking for anything at the moment before i go out and sell all my stock and start fresh...

How about a school of Congo tetras?

If it were me I'd replace them all with a nice shoal of Rainbowfish. Maybe some different varieties or 1 or 2 types in larger numbers. Then some Cories or a Dwarf Cichlid pair for the bottom.

i like the idea of rainbow fish as I already have 3 bosemani rainbows. I had 4 but one grew a red growth on its underside and died, still unsure what happened. if I did the Rainbow fish i would like to add fish that swim up top and more around the bottom as the rainbows seem to just chill in the middle and tend to not expore much

You could go to the planted side.
 
a community of fish could do. some boesmani as lunar jetman said. plus a school of corydoras and a pair of apistogramma

Yea the only thing that sucks about the malawi cichlids is the whole unable to go planted ordeal.

It's just my opinion but I really love harlequin rasboras

I am actually thinking of trying to do planted without co2 and switching to a sand substrate.

i have been recommended the harlequin rasborsas by a few people now so maybe i can find a way to incorporate them as well.

Wow that was fast... I posted my fish for sale ( all desperately might I add ) and not even a minute after posting they all sold. Looks like change is happening sooner then I thought haha

basic planted is somewhat easy
 
Dwarf sag, java moss, java fern, anubias and the rest of the beginner plants
