pincers are supposed to be of danger in a tank! but from this guys position, having them is the problem.

it eventually took refuge on the filter outlet.

you will notice it only has three legs, on one side! its not been a good week to be a crab. the poor sod got cornered in the Crays cave. didn't seem to faze, it though, an hour or so later it walked right over the Crays back. lol

Well obviously you will be removing them from that tank, won't you.
no i dont think so, this is the first time, its got itself cornered, the angels did no harm, though perhaps it soiled its Carapace lol.

nice crab, poor little guy sounds like it gets attacked a lot tho :(
no actually it doesn't. it has no problem with the Cray, just a one off, there. and its the first time, anything except a pygmy gurami, has decided to have a go. the crab has been in for six months, and the gurami, has bullied it from day one. lol the crab just moves on.

I'm very ready to post about my success with keeping both Crab and Cray in a community, it seems only fair that i post if things ain't going so well. and anyway they are semi decent pictures, so worth a post for that.

As far as im concerned if they have a fight bad enough for one of them to be incapacitated then one needs rehoming.

Thanks, DarkEntity i thought i was on my own!
I have yet to experience a crab/cray combo that actually works, or a fish/cray combo for that matter!

a fair point, but the crab is not incapacitated. in fact it is not even bothered by the lack of its leg. so i assume if one of your fish gets a nipped fin you remove it right away?

thats interesting, how long have you kept Crab and Cray, it always interesting to hear other peoples experiences. as a matter of fact more Cray are kept in community's than on their own.

I have taken in a fish that had its whole lower jaw cut off by a cray fish. I also kept a cray with fish but when it shed the fish attacked it. I didnt say that it was always the crays that are in the wrong did i? I have never personally kept crab and cray together but my LFS did (briefly) and i saw some nasty fights. I personally would not keep any of the mentioned combinations...

indeed a valid argument. i have dealt with the result myself, though never in my own tanks. and accept these comments as valid. though the inference that any of my stock, has been ill treated, or badly hurt, is unfair. the leg will return with the next cast, unless the crab loses a limb in the cast, something not that uncommon. the Crab continues it daily business with no ill effects.

I was genuinely interested in your experiences of Cray!
