The divider in my 10 gallon tank slipped, and two of my crowns got into the same compartment...I looked over and knew that something looked funny, then I realized what was going on. I quickly ran over to the tank and scooped one of the guys out with my hand and put him into an extra bowl. One of them is more torn up than the other, but they've both got some damage done. I feel so awful. Are they going to be ok? What should I do? Should I put salt in their tank(s)? I've fixed the divider, now it definitely won't slip. I think I just cut it too small. I feel so terrible. :( What should I do?

Aww, poor guys! :( Don't feel too bad, it was an accident. Just be glad that you caught them in time and were able to save them!

keep them in seperate tanks and give them some bettafix after a while seal that divider to the tank and maybe it wont happen again... good luck! hope your boys get better!

Is the damage limited to fins alone? If it is, they'll recover faster. If it isn't, then you got them quickly enough that they should still be just fine.

Add some aquarium salt to their water and keep it extremely clean. That'll help them heal just fine. You can also get all-natural products like Blackwater Extract, Indian Almond Leaves, and Colloidal Silver that'll help with the regrowth process, but you don't NEED them.

Thanks guys. It looks like it's just fin damage. I took pictures. Please let me know how bad the damage looks. I've added stress coat and salt. How long should I expect it to take for their fins to return to normal?

No worries! That's just a little bit of damage. With exceptionally clean water, you should see new fin growth within 2-3 days. It'll come in transparent, with no color at all. It should fill back in quickly enough once it gets started, as long as you keep the water clean.
