anyone ever messed with these...

I don't have room to add these to any tanks right now, but the look, & the read are interesting

I liked them. They are a gentle, easily dominated fish - for a one Cichlid species tank with a fair bit of room. If I had them again (I saw some listed in Canada this week and thought about them) I'd give them a 55, with a few tetras. I think it's the only way you'd see their behaviour. With other fish they seemed to intent on staying out of the way of tankmates to do anything.

They're less aggressive, in my 2 year experience a long time ago than the similar looking Dicrossus species, the checkerboards. They fought among themselves a bit, but were timid.
