My thermometer smashed at the top so I bought another one which did the same a day later. It's a glass one that sticks to the inside of the tank.

I was thinking about getting one of those digital LCD ones that go on the inside of the tank, with a little sensor.

Are these accurate? Are they any good? I can't imagine it being very good for the fish should the battery leak.

I don't really want one of them strips ones you stick to the front as I don't really like tham and I wouldn't be able to get the temp of my new water.

Cheers
Andy.

did you clean out all the glass from the tank?
something caused them to smash, maybe your light is too close too it or sumthing?

i have lcd ones on my tanks and they are great.
P.S the lcd bit goes on the outside of the tank, the sensor in

The LCD ones work nicely enough - had one for a while and no leaks... the sticker-strips aren't very accurate

I've got a glass one that lives inside the tank, been there for months. Trouble is my gourami 'George' occasionally decides to teach it a lesson and tail flicks it a few times, you can hear it 'click' against the tank glass. Every time he does this I think to myself 'must get a different thermometer!' but forget when I go to my lfs. One of these days he's going to break it and I will only have myself to blame. Don't know what its ever done to him but he must see it as some kind of threat cos he is the King of the Tank!!

drsfostersmith has a nice digital one for $5!! I have one for each of my tanks. The battery is actually not inside the tank either so no worries there. You just put the sensor wherever you want with a suction cup and mount the display outside the tank with another suction cup.

Try this. It's probably the one that's been mentioned the most. Small, simple and accurate. +/- 1.5° isn't a big deal. Most fish experience much wider temperature differences in the wild anyways. I use them on my aquariums and they match up with the old fashioned glass ones that stick to the inside of the aquarium.

No need!

Just been talking to my mum about them. Turns out she has one, with a little stand and a probe on the end of a good sized wire. It's suppose to be a food one, but I've scolded it under boiling water and it should be fine for fishies if you put it in food. Even has warnings for low and high temps.

Thanks for the link though. :) I'm in the UK anyway and I think it's a US only site.
