dont ever buy equipment from a lfs unless in a emergency they will pull your pants down, flebay is great for these kind of things

I don't know what it's like around your way, but that's never happened to me in my LFS. Probably worth reporting them if they're pulling innocent customers' pants down, that's just not right.

Just a quick comment on that, you can get a decent 300W heater from allpondsolutions for £12.49...

I have two 300W heaters in my 425 litre tank. probably overkill, but it keeps things balanced

Depends what they have in btw, i found the JAD ones to be ok for a cheap heater but as normal the sun sun they sent me died within 2 months sigh
