I went out and peeked at my organic garden this afternoon and noticed a few zucchini that were somewhat ready to pick, so I did :D

I came in and ate one :*) and blanched the rest for the fish. The usual plecs and cichlids went crazy for them, then I started making the rounds with the bettas, out of dozens and dozens (and dozens :S ) of adults not 1 single betta turned down the zucchini  :kana: Just thought I'd share in case anybody wants to try it. :)

That's awesome! I am definately going to try that. I have to admit I was surprised when the bettas took so well to formula I as I was skeptical about veggies. I guess they do well with peas though...Anyway, thanks for that tip, the way I see it, the more varied the diet the better!

Thank you, my plecs won't touch the cucumber....

I'l have to try Zucchini
Nobody here will even look twice at cucumber  I'm not particularly fond of it either though :*)

I agree Sorrell, varied diets the best, it's been a couple of months since they've had zucchini, and totally new to the newbie bettas . I give them Formula 2 every week which is just basically algae and veggie based (peas spinach etc) with minced fish & krill and they all devour it. I honestly don't believe they're strictly carnivorous

doesnt blanching take out most of the nutrients? :(
I barely blanched it for a second, just to make it edible.I don't think it takes out all of the vitamins.
