Fish Fanatic
For the background to this post, please read: "The world from another view: The story of Mitshu and his odd habit."
I kept Mitshu in his little hospital tank for a few days and watched him get a little better. He no longer laid on his side, but floated nose-down at the surface, still breathing and doing all normal things fish do. He ate his food like normal and loved the peas (as all my fish do
). After those few days, I put him back into the large tank with Shinju and Ningyo. He swam around normal for a few hours, then I found him laying at the bottom again. I was a ltitle baffled, so I kept my eyes on him.
A few days later, I noticed Ningyo picking on Shinju (Ningyo is a male, Shinju is a female, you get the idea). It was not like he had picked on her in the past thought, and when he got rough, I moved him out of the big tank, put Geisha and Sakura (my female feeders-as-pets) in the tank with Shinju and Mitshu, and gave Ningyo the 5 gallon all to his self.
I know that Ningyo can be a pain in the tail, since before I moved Sakura to the 5 gallon with Geisha initally, he would pick on Sakura and he tore off quite a few of her scales.
Since the re-arangement, Mitshu has been swimming around like normal, and when he does lay around it's no longer on his side. He swims more though than he had before. I think this is a sign he is getting better.
I thought that some of you would liek to hear the news.
And, if you are curious or forgot the species of my fish and think that it could be relivant somehow, here they are:
Ningyo: Black moor (male)
Mitshu: Gold oranda (male)
Shinju: Gold and white oranda (female)
Sakura: Gold and white feeder (female)
Geisha: Gold and white-face comet (female)
PS- As mentioned in the other post, the fish will get larger tanks as soon as I am out of college and am allowed one.![^_^ ^_^ ^_^](/images/smilies/ipb/happy.png)
