Has anybody else seen The Simpsons Movie? What did you think?

I love the Simpsons but, personally, I thought it was utter crap. Before the film was released, the plot was being kept secret by the creators. I imagine it's because the plot is very, very weak. This film wasn't funny (maybe a few small laughs) and during the film no one in the cinema laughed out loud, only a few sniggers (mainly from small children). Hardly any of the supporting cast have speaking roles and many only feature for brief moments, including great characters such as Mr Burns and Principle Skinner. It also introduces a few new characters for no reason at all.

Overall, it was a mediocre, 87 minute episode of The Simpsons. If I had to rate it, it'd be a 4 out of 10.

So there.

I could not agree more, after all the hype about it. it was a let down.
The plot was non-existent.

it started out funny ... then kinda fizzled out as it went along. infact i only saw it over a week ago and have forgotten what its about! transformers was way better :p

It was okay, I mean I guess the most fun I had in that movie was a popcorn war and chucking popcorn at random people.
I mean a few parts were a little funny but it was no way as good as the show.
And I don't know why everyone is obsessed with Spider Pig. I mean it was funny maybe the first two times on the commercial, but then it just kinda killed itself.

loll... spider pig.. spider pig.. does whatever a spider pig does.. LOOOOOL.. thats all i know of the movie.. i didn't watch it.> HEHE...

the movie hairspray was funnier than the simpsons.. HEHE.. by what u say...

I love the simpsons and i cant be bovvered to see the movie. I saw a few trailors and i thought i would just stick to the simpsons. (oh hairspray was good but the origional was better)

luckily i got to see it for free, but it just seemed like a really long episode, just a regular one.. not that great. me and my boyfriend that that ratatouille was funnier! and cuter :)

Agree... the start was pretty decent, but then it just went seriously downhill the middle and end were just dreary. If it were condensed perhaps 5 minutes of it were worth watching, which is less than you get in most tv episodes.

I haven't seen the movie yet, and don't really plan to. The reviews kind of echoed everybody's sentiments here. It's too bad, because I liked the TV show quite a bit. I think SouthPark handled their leap to the big screen much better. But SP made it a point to give supporting characters a lot of things to do, and nobody really new was introduced. In addition, they opted to make their movie a musical, which worked, I think. I laughed my head off with that one, despite the fact that SP is a very, very, very crass little show. I don't watch the show much anymore, but the movie was still quite good. It also had a little less hype than the Simpsons, which is what I think ultimately killed it. Execs need to spend less money on advertising and more money on writing.

llj

That's exactly what I thought when the film was over. I prefer The Simpsons over South Park any day, but the South Park movie was genuinely funny and almost epic (as epic as a cartoon can be!) in it's story telling.

Agreed! Spider-Pig wasn't funny. Also, the introduction of the pig was totally pointless. He dissapeared half way through the film and wasn't mentioned ever again.

I think The Simpsons Movie was released 10 years too late. Should have been released when The Simpsons franchise was at it's peak, not when it's trying to claw its way back up a very slippery slope.

Exactly why I never went to see it. I had a feeling it was going to be weak. I hope it isn't a sign that the Simpson writers are out of ideas...

i heard the movie was made to end the Simpsons for good?

Only movie that I went and saw this whole year..... 300

Agreed, lol.Still I think the simpsons is worth a watch.Funny actually transformers got the parents and children laughing harder at some simple humor (robot pee's on dog). :shifty:
