I have fallen in total love with this little guy, but 50 dollars ouch.
Are they really that rare?

Wow, he's gorgeous! $50 sounds steep to me too but I am not well versed on what prices are fair for what betta colors and types.

Seems to me that with a price like that, he's intended to be bred and the offspring sold.

Then again, he is really pretty.... and here I am without 50 dollars. *slaps self on hand* No!

That is a breeder fish....unless you just enjoy spending close to $100 on a fish or are intersted in starting a breeding program...I'd suggest looking for a cheaper one..say for like $20.
