The Reef Down The Corner

I think that acro will die tbh...once they have bleeched from the bottom up then that seems to be it in my reading/experience.

rest looks a very nice bunch o corals though.

HI

My acro started to bleach from the bottom now its under t8s its looking good again

Im not too worried about the acro...it was a free frag from a local society to test,,,we shall see how it goes. ironically an even smaller frag is unbleached and looking healthy...just couldnt get a good shot.

Well another pictorial update will come tonight, with some other pretty little things and what have you.

Finally made an addition to the aquascape...while its not the most pretty piece of rock (as compared to the gorgeous coralline on everything else...it came from a friends long cycled tank who lives about 2 mins away), im hoping coraline will grow on relatively soon. The favia is looking gorgeous, far more inflated and healthy with the polyps really showing up well. I think I found the cause of the acro bleaching...a fan worm burrowed into a hole left by the fragging process, and things seemed to start from there. Fortunately the recession appears to have stopped and if anything the skin seems to be extending down the skeleton again. The small frag is looking happy and is soon to move a little higher in the tank in its final position. The green monti has over a hundred new polyps along the edges and is encrusting rather rapidly....in the next day or two I plan to attach it to the upper rockwork as I set up my aquascape (which will be hideous with aquakneedit at first). The blasto is going great guns with new polyps...still trying to decide on a final location to attach it (so the damn snails stop knocking it over). Ive added a couple of new zoa frags (with a couple more to come) which means my zoa garden is reaching a nice point, of course making aquascaping interesting. The rics are getting quite large and I may need to look at fragging one off (which ill trade for something). Friend of mine picked up a couple of things which she is going to frag a bit off for my tank to add to my little collection....another type of acro and a beautiful blasto.

And as contentious as it is I have a new tank occupant of the finned variety. More to come on him tonight.

So its time to update the pictures and the stocklist.

First up: Test Results:
Salinity: 1.026-1.027

WARNING THE FOLLOWING MAY CONTAIN EXCESSIVE USE OF AQUAKNEADIT...IT IS SUGGESTED THAT IF YOU FEEL SQUEAMISH ABOUT EXCESSIVE USE YOU TURN AWAY NOW.

:konk:

Ok so here is a shot with the recent additions before I decided to solve the snail knocking over issue and reaquascape:

Introducing the new kid in the tank:

But of course when he noticed I was taking photos he decided to be the centre of attention:

And a shot of the Favia (not sure...if anyone can confirm the ident that would be great) in its full glory, not the green zoas and palys behind:

So after my frustration with the snails came to a head heres what we ended up with:

Well Hi folks, the diary has been languishing a bit....but I figure I might have to update it again for you all to keep you interested. So will be putting an update together tommorow with some shots of how everythings going...plus some new additions. Suffice to say everything is growing well and looks happy.

Ok so time for some pictures, apologies for the quality..it appears my 18-55mm lense has a problem with auto-focusing :furious:, so these are shot from about 3 metres with my 70-300mm lens.

First up:
The world looks far cooler vertical:

Note the MASOV acro frag which is extending down rather rapidly...not sure its showing up on camera though. Its such a shame that large purple died in transit.
