ok so for a subforum theres a clown loach and normally a neon tetra.

why dont we have different signs for different parts IE

New world cichlids - a discus
Oddballs - a stingray
Hybrids - a Parrot fish

Etc.. you get the picture...

i dont think theres a setting on the board to use a different picture for all of the forums plus its a space and bandwidth issue

don't think you can do them all individual then there would probably be an arguement for which fish represents that forum

Personally i like it how it is. I think what you are suggesting would look tacky and amateurish.

Well at least change it to something new. Even if you kept only two symbols, at least change them every once in a while.....

It's a nice idea in theory but as lilfishie said arguments would probably be caused over which fish should be chosen to represent a section that could have alot of variety. It's nice and plain and simple, I don't really notice what pics are next to what, I just go by the heading, so IMO it would be a waste of time and bandwidth to faff about adding diff pics when most people wouldn't appreciate / notice it.

i'd also like to mention the principle of inertia: the easiest thing to do is the thing you're already doing. :p changing the pics next to the forums would be unnecessary work for will/the mod team and wouldn't necessarily contribute any real value to the experience. thus it's unlikely that any sort of image rotation or diversification will occur.

So what if it's unnecessary. I think it would be a fun task to do. If the argument is it'll take up more mod time, then you're right. If the arguement is it'll take up too much bandwidth though, I ain't buying it... no more than all the smilies and the format of the pages take up bandwidth.
