Ok now here i go....

The fish needs to:
Look pretty!
The smaller the better
Very Hardie

the tank it will be goin in is normally around pH 7.6 and about 27oC.

I've tried doing a bit of research of my own. Just thought peoples personal experience may be able to tell me something books and internet cant.

How big is the tank?

If you are after small fishes that are quite hardy try Guppies, neons and most other varieties of tetra.

You can also go for Danios which are hardier !

Very pretty and small... look no further than a betta :)
I'm not a betta fan, but in this case it seems the ideal solution.
Small, pretty, hardy. Fits the bill nicely.

And who's Hazel?

either bettas, guppies about, 10 tetras or 2 dwarf gouramis

ive had them all and loved them all and still got them all :D

If Hazel is your turtle, I'd caution against a betta... or anything that isn't fast enough to get out of her way. Water turtles are known to take bites out of fish.

yep you got it right hazel's the turtle but dont worry im having second thoughts about putting fish in with her.... well actually i think im getting a bit of MTS. Now that im having her new custom tank built im thinking of using her 90x35x35 for fishies by simply removing the basking platform and it will be nicely over filtered. I still want hardie fish though because im likely to end up doing my cycling with fish as i get impatient and a tank with no fish really isnt that interesting.

mosquito fish are extremely hardy and a bit mean. prolific breeders too. They are similair to guppies but not nearly as colorful.

edit: wide ranges in temperature ph you name it they'll cope with it, (within reason.) They might make nice turtle food since they breed so well. BTW I've never bred them so I am speaking heresay on this point. Don't know where you can get them though aside from a lake.

Mosquito fish are supposedly the smallest species of livebearer, which makes them very interesting, I think. They look like teeny tiny grey speckled mollies. You can get them from Aquabid.com, if you're interested... that's also a good site to search for fish you might potentially want to keep :D
